The Red Queen's Delusion... Beaded Necklace
I've finally found my true love!!! Beading! Or, more specifically, bead embroidery. I've have taken up and been intrigued by, most types of arts and crafts, ever since I was a little girl. My Grandma Nanny had me sitting at her old Singer sewing machine, making doll clothes, when I was only five years old. There have been many phases and incarnation's in my creative journey throughout the years. I've dabbled in: Sewing, wreath making, ceramic's, applique, crochet, macrame, candle making, soap making, doll making, broken china mosaic's, card making, collage, silver soldering, painting, drawing, watercolors, polymer clay, floral arranging, stained glass, and all different kinds of jewelery making... BUT now, I've found my true love... Bead weaving and bead embroidery. The piece above is the very first one I've ever done of actual embroidery on Ultrasuede. For someone who has no patience for crowds of people and HATES to talk on the phone... I have nothing but patience for this very detailed and precise type of craft. I completely lose myself in the bliss of creating with tiny beads, picked up individually on a slender needle, and placed in a mysterious flow of color and texture. Propelling into fruition an idea that only develops in my mind as I go along. I don't like to follow patterns.
I have so many ideas in my head now and not nearly enough time to devote to my new passion.
After seeing the new Tim Burton version of Alice In Wonderland, I was visually enthralled by the black/white/red/gold theme in the Red Queen's Castle, and I LOVED the dress Alice had on, made from the Queen's curtains, and so... My inspiration.
Well I'm living for the weekend.... My next project is starting to percolate in my mind, I'm picturing the blues, whites, and soft gray's of my dream place, Santorini, Greece....
